What to Expect on the Day
Your experience begins at the launch site, which depends on the day’s wind direction. On most days, you will launch from Signal Hill and fly over Sea Point before landing on the Sea Point Promenade. If the wind is from the south-west, you launch from Lion’s Head and land at the Bungalow in Camps Bay instead. Both routes are spectacular.
Here is what each flight path offers:
- Signal Hill launch: Views of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Robben Island, and the V&A Waterfront. Landing on the Sea Point Promenade. Flights available from as early as 06:00.
- Lion’s Head launch: Views of Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles, Robben Island, and Camps Bay. Landing at the Bungalow in Camps Bay.
Weather is the only factor that can delay or postpone a flight. AirVentures will make every effort to get you flying as soon as conditions are safe. If your flight cannot go ahead, the team will work with you to reschedule.
Before You Fly
- Wear closed shoes (no sandals or slip-ons)
- Arrive at the confirmed launch site on time
- Your instructor will brief you on take-off and landing procedures
- No prior experience is needed; the instructor handles everything
- You are welcome to view the GoPro footage after landing before deciding whether to purchase it
